clrp5_p1_p1This is an international magazine and this month’s cover star is the irrepressible Joe Bonamassa.  I am astonished and honoured to have been chosen alongside the other great artists on the CD.

What makes this even MORE fantastic is that my beautiful and talented friend Katie Bradley is also featured in this month’s magazine a their rising star and ‘Blues Breaker.’  You can find out more about Katie on her webite here: http://katiebradleyblues.com/.

I am also pleased to confirm that we will be playing a few dates together at festivals later this year around the UK!

Blues Sur Seine

I am pleased and proud to confirm that I will be appearing in France in November as part of the terrific Blues Sur Seine Festival!

For the past twelve years, to the west of Paris, the Seine takes on an air of the Mississippi. For two weeks, several venues around Mantes-la-Jolie open their doors to renowned musicians and the up and coming talents of this style of music, a good deal more diverse than it might seem. More than fifty groups and musicians on the stages to the west of Paris bear witness to the eternal renaissance of the Blues, showing us that this genre has more and more offspring.

There will be an incredible line-up this year of performers who are coming from all over the world.  Full details are available on the festival website: http://www.blues-sur-seine.com/english.html

You chan check out the festival promo video here:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlF_0SEZp9M&feature=share&fb_source=message

REVIEW: Songs for Jane

They say that the only two certainties in life are death and taxes, but considering how some people avoid paying them, I’m no longer sure about taxes. But, yeah, we will all leave this mortal coil, one day. What’s never certain is what we can do with our time on this greeny Earth. I never had the honour of meeting Jane Howden, but the amount of people her life changed is flabbergasting.

So it was a fitting tribute that her sister Sarah Griffiths organised a tribute gig at West Street Live. Many familiar faces from the Sheffield community were there, paying their respects in one form or another.

Yorkshire Flood

BLUES STARS TAKE STOCK AND FILL TOP BILL FOR FLOOD APPEAL

SLIGHTLY Foxed Brewery have now finalised the details for the fundraising Floodstock concert of blues music early next month – and even brewed a beer specially for it.

The brewery have been working on the line-up for several weeks and have harnessed up and coming blues talent from across the country, including some local representation from Calder Valley outfit Hooson, fronted by the great voice of Jenna Hooson.

It will be held at Mytholmroyd Community Centre on September 1 in aid of Calder Valley Flood victims and tickets are pegged at just £9 for what is an appetising bill of top blues talent.

Jenna Hooson was nominated as best female vocalist at this year’s British Blues Awards and with Hooson joined on the bill by Rabbitfoot, the Paddy Maguire Band, TJ Norton performing his new solo set and Tom Attah, there will be much to savour.

All of the musicians are performing free of charge and one of the acts performing is coming all the way from Brighton. Having played at the recent hugely successful Hebden Bridge Blues Festival they were all too happy to come back and support the area, said Matt Bell, co-owner of Slightly Foxed Brewery.

“Mytholmroyd was selected as the venue, as it was one of the badly affected areas, and is well placed for everyone in the Upper Valley to attend. The musicians booked for the evening are truly first class, and include some of the biggest names in British Blues,” he said.

Slightly Foxed Brewery is producing a special beer called Slightly Flooded, with all profits from the beer sales as well as that from ticket sales going into the flood victims fund.

The event is ticket-only and they are available from Mytholmroyd Community Centre and Flying Saucers, New Road, Hebden Bridge (near the marina), or by emailing andrew@slightlyfoxedbrewery.co.uk

The doors will open at 4.30pm and more details can be found by logging on to www.slightlyfoxedbrewery.co.uk/floodstock

Blues Au 13 2012 Festival Poster

Really excited to confirm that I will be playing at Blues Au 13 in Paris, France next month!

I am opening for Big Daddy Wilson from the USA at this terrific little festival that will be running all week.

The following month, it’s back across the channel to play with Franny Eubank at the Blues Autour Du Zinc Festival at Beauvais for the 2nd year in a row – after last year’s tremendous experience, I’m really looking forward to performing.

Ooh – a country famed for its red wine and cheese.  How WILL I cope?
